Italian Calzone
Ingredients
- Capsicum, Green - 1
- Egg - 1
- garlic, crushed or finely chopped - 2 Cloves
- Leg Ham - 200 grams
- Mozzarella Cheese - 200 grams
- Mushrooms - 200 grams
- Olive Oil - 4 Tablespoons
- Olives - 100 grams
- Parsely - half a handful
- Pasta Sauce - 1 jar
- Pepperoni - 100 grams
- Plain Flour - 4-5 Cups
- Salt - 2 Teaspoons
- Sugar - 2 Teaspoons
- Yeast - 2 Sachets
The Dough
Mix the yeast in with 2 cups of warm water, around body temperature, don't have it too hot, or the yeast won't work.
Add the flour, salt, sugar and olive oil into a mixing bowl. Pour the yeast/water into this and kneed the dough together until its nice and springy, add more flour if needed, then cover and let sit for 30mins.
Prepare the Ingredients
Just before your dough is ready to use, saute the mushrooms for a few mins, with some olive oil and finely chopped garlic, leave to sit once done. Slice your capsicum and any other ingredients that need preparing.
Roll the Dough and Add Ingredients
Sprinkling flour as you go over -everything- (don't be afraid! ) use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into 2-4 pizza shaped circles, depending on how big you want them. My recipe made two huge ones, I'd suggest make 3, or 4.
Add all of your ingredients into the center, season with a bit of salt and pepper and then roll the sides up being very careful not to break the dough, then us a couple of spatulas (or egg flippers) to get the calzone onto a baking tray.
Mix your egg together, and brush over the top of the calzones, then cook for about 30mins or until they look really nice and brown!
Just before you serve them, heat up the pasta sauce, and pour a covering of it on top.
