Super Easy Cinnamon Pinwheels
Ingredients
- baking powder - 5 ml
- brown sugar - 60 ml
- cinnamon - 5 ml
- Flour(sifted) - 250 ml
- Margarine(soft) - 15 ml
- milk - 75 ml
- salt - 1 ml
- shortening - 50 ml
Preparation
1.Preheat oven to 200 C (400 F)(oven rack middle position)
2.Sift flour,baking powder,salt and white sugar into a medium mixing bowl.
3.Using a pastry blender,cut shortening into dry ingredients,until particles resemble coarse crumbs.
4.Add milk a little at a time,stirring lightly with a fork until the soft dough leaves the sides of the bowl.
5.Turn dough onto a lighty floured surface and knead for about 10 seconds.*Overkneading will cause hard biscuits
6.Roll dough into a rectangle not more than 1 cm thick(about 15x20 cm)
7.Moisten one long edge with leftover milk.(about 2cm wide)
8.Spread dough with 15 ml softened margarine to the entire surface except for the moistened long edge.v
9.Sprinkle 60 ml brown sugar and 5 ml cinnamon evenly over the dough.Add raisins or chopped nuts if desired.
10.Beginning on the long side,roll dough towards unbuttered,moisting edge.Place seam on bottom to seal the roll.Cut into 6 slices witha bread knife.
11.Place cut side down in lined muffin tin.
12.Bake in preheated oven for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.Cool for 2 minutes.Remove from tins.Serve warm and enjoy!
